First impressions are important. The new 2008 Mercedes C-Class sedan has many facets and some make a great first impression. Available as a C300 (3.0 litre engine) or a C350 (3.5 litre engine), the car also comes in rear wheel or 4MATIC all-wheel drive versions. Finally, there are two exterior styling packages available. The regular C-Class retains a more traditional image or you can choose the Sport package for that custom powerful look.
While I did drive a C350 rear wheel drive sedan, most of my driving was in a C300 4MATIC model equipped with the Sport Package and Premium Package. The Sport Package includes AMG styled front and rear aprons, AMG side skirts, five spoke alloy wheels, the deletion of the Mercedes-Benz Star on the hood and the addition of a larger chrome Star in the grille. Those exterior styling features are backed up with a sport suspension, performance tires, and upgraded brake calipers. Inside, the Sport Package adds a three-spoke sport steering wheel, aluminum trim and aluminum studded pedals.
